3D Repo Appoints Andrew Norrie as Commercial Director

3D Repo, a provider of cloud software solutions for collaborative Building Information Modelling (BIM), has appointed Andrew Norrie as Commercial Director. Norrie, who joins the London based tech innovator, is a business development professional with nearly ten years’ experience in the 3D CAD and BIM sector, having worked for industry leaders such as SolidWorks and Graphisoft UK.

Norrie brings a proven track record of sales, marketing and account management to the newly created 3D Repo role, which will help the company expand the user base of its award winning open source software solutions.

“Having established 3D Repo as an innovator, and even a tech disruptor, we are now ready to take the next step in the journey from start-up to scale-up,” commented Dr Jozef Dobos, CEO of 3D Repo. “Andrew brings to the position of Commercial Director a wealth of relevant business experience, an understanding of the sector and a desire to succeed.”

Norrie previously worked for Graphisoft, the company behind the first BIM software for architects, where he held the position of Key Account Manager. During his time with Graphisoft, he was responsible for creating a large increase in the software’s subscribed user base over four years as a result of new customer acquisitions as well as key account growth. A graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Sheffield Hallam University, Norrie began his commercial career working for Innova Systems, the UK reseller of SolidWorks 3D CAD design software.

“This is a truly exciting time to be joining 3D Repo as the company looks to commercialise previous project work with widespread deployment across the building sector,” added Norrie. “With innovative solutions for collaboration, reporting, training and safety, the potential for growth is enormous and I am looking forward to helping them realise it.”

3D Repo, a spinout from University College London, is a developer of multi-award winning open source software for Building Information Modelling in the cloud. Instead of architects, consultants and contractors sharing massive proprietary files in a costly and time consuming manner, they can simply point their web browser to an encrypted online repository in order to examine each project stage virtually, even on mobile devices. More than 40 different 3D file formats are decomposed and federated in the company’s big data repository. The 3D Repo team has collaborated on a number of large scale projects with companies such as ARUP, Balfour Beatty and British Telecom.
