3D Repo Adds Geospatial Dimension to Digital Construction Week

The annual Digital Construction Week kicked off on Monday 16 October with a packed British Information Modelling event held at the Geovation hub in central London. The fourth in a series of bi-annual events organised by 3D Repo, speakers from Bryden Wood, Skanska, Flux, Ordnance Survey and Podaris took up a geospatial theme with delegates debating issues such as data access, integration and collaboration. Skanska’s Vaibhav Tyagi talked about its lead in the Innovate UK government backed project to provide integration between geospatial and BIM data. Linked Open Data Tools Bring Victory for Space App Camp

The European Space Agency (ESA) Space App Camp 2017 – the event where coding meets big data from space – awarded on 18 September in Frascati, Italy, ESA’s centre for EO, the winning team: Limoncello and their app AiR that uses satellite imagery to give flight travellers an interactive, bird’s-eye view of their routes. Mapbox Brings AI Powered Vision SDK to Microsoft Azure IoT Platform

Mapbox has announced it will integrate its Vision SDK with Microsoft Azure IoT platform, enabling developers to build innovative applications and solutions for smart cities, the automotive industry, public safety and more. The Mapbox Vision SDK provides augmented reality (AR) navigation, driver alerts for speed limits, pedestrians, vehicles and other event-based triggers for responsive apps. The integration with Azure IoT Hub will provide developers with a holistic solution that aggregates cloud data using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning technologies to send reports. Bentley Acquires Web-based 3D Urban Planning Pioneer Agency9

Bentley Systems has announced the acquisition of Agency9, based in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Agency9 has already provided nearly half of Sweden’s larger municipalities with city-scale 'digital twin' cloud services for city planning and related web-based 3D visualisation. Since 2012, Agency9 has taken advantage of reality meshes created by Bentley’s ContextCapture reality modelling software as the digital context for visualising urban infrastructure assets represented in GIS data, terrain surveys and BIM models.
