3D Target still contributing to pioneering UAV-Lidar evolution

3D Target has continued to make significant advancements since launching its inaugural Scanfly model at Intergeo in 2016, at a time when Lidar technology in the UAV industry was still in its infancy. 3D Target's versatile device was designed for use in a variety of vehicles, prioritizing a user-friendly experience while delivering uncompromising performance.

Fast forward seven years, and 3D Target unveiled the third generation of Scanfly, known as Scanfly v3, at this year's Intergeo exhibition held in Berlin. Scanfly v3 continues its multi-platform design, offering a seamless workflow across UAVs, land vehicles and even as a portable backpack solution. It takes the user-friendly approach to new heights with its innovative tool-less and cable-less design. The multi-pin interface allows easy integration with dedicated mounting accessories and a selection of high-resolution cameras.

Versatile mobile mapping

Scanfly v3 is available in two distinct configurations. The Scanfly EVO represents the natural evolution of the previous Scanfly series, maintaining a compact form factor. Equipped with the Applanix APX-15L INS and the Hesai PandarXT-32 Lidar head, the Scanfly EVO stands as a dependable workhorse, serving as a versatile mobile mapping solution.

Meanwhile, the Scanfly PRO harnesses the full potential of the Applanix AP+20 and the Hesai XT32M2X, all within the same form factor. This configuration excels in challenging GNSS conditions, making it a logical choice for mobile mapping within its price range.

For added convenience, Scanfly v3 includes dedicated mounting adapters for the DJI Matrice 350 RTK and a Land Mounting Kit, allowing for installation on vehicles or backpacks. The well-established SmartProcessing Lidar suite offers robust post-processing capabilities to transform field-collected data into high-quality point clouds.

“Scanfly v3 is the result of more than two years of effort by the 3D Target R&D team. We listened to the feedback from our reseller network and our valued customers all around the world, and we brought forward our philosophy to bring the most complete mobile mapper to the market,” said Mauro Contrafatto, 3D Target’s product manager.
