GSDI 11 World Conference

The GSDI World Conference, which is to be held from 15th until 19th June 2009 in Rotterdam, calls for papers covering the full range of practice, development and research experiences that advance the practice and theory of spatial data infrastructure development. The theme for this conference is Spatial Data Infrastructure Convergence: Building SDI Bridges to Address Global Challenges.

Geographic information technologies and spatial data infrastructure play critical roles in allowing governments, local communities, non-government organizations, the commercial sector, the academic community and common people to make progress in addressing many of the worlds most pressing problems. The approaches in building spatial data infrastructure within and among nations are in many respects converging. This conference will explore the convergence towards best standards, practices and processes among nations while at the same time explore ever evolving and exciting new approaches to the offering of geographic data and services in meeting real world needs.

The submissions accepted through this call for papers will be orally presented in parallel sessions. GSDI 11 will support three primary forms of publication:
(1) a normal conference proceedings with abstracts and full articles, published on a CD,
(2) a pre-conference published book of fully refereed articles, and
(3) a post-conference special edition of the International Journal of Spatial Data Infrastructures Research (IJSDIR) with full articles selected from the proceedings and then fully refereed and revised after the conference.
