HAL – Infotech Joint Venture

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HALand Infotech Enterprises Limited (IEL) (both India) have formed a joint venture (JV) company to offer engineering design services for the aerospace sector. The JV, an independent business entity, will mainly focus on aero-engines, technical publications and anticipated work from various OEMs under the offset programs. HAL and Infotech Enterprises would be equal partners in this venture.

Under the agreement, Infotech Enterprises and HAL will continue to serve their strategic customers within their respective companies. Infotech’s relationship with UTC will not form part of this JV and HAL’s strategically sensitive military projects will also not form part of this JV. The partner companies would also transfer some of their personnel to the JV.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is a US$1.8 billion premier aerospace company seeking entry into global market while supporting India’s defence requirements in a significant way. The company has identified R&D, co-development and co-production of aircraft, engine and related equipments with global aerospace companies as the thrust areas of investment. Among HAL’s star products are the Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv) and Intermediate Jet Trainer (HJT-36), while the limited series production of the Light Combat Aircraft (Tejas) has commenced. The future projects include multi-role transport aircraft, medium-range multi-role helicopters, UAVs and development of simulators.
