Infotech Enterprises Wins Landmark GIS Contract from KPN

Infotech Enterprises (India) has announced that it has been awarded a major GIS contract by KPN. Valued at several million euros and with a tight schedule of 18 months, it represents one of the largest, single-vendor GIS contracts awarded by the global telecom industry to an offshore services company in recent years.

Infotech will provide a range of data management services for KPN’s existing Access Network. An offshore production team of around 300 data specialists based in India will perform conversion services remotely to digitis the existing plans of KPN’s telecom network. The digitisation of the network plans is in keeping with KPN’s web-enabled operating methods, which yield a more rapid, and higher quality service. Infotech will utilise a secure, online delivery model implemented successfully on previous engagements to ensure the project is delivered to KPN’s quality, schedule and budget expectations.

KPN provides telecommunications services to both private and commercial customers. KPN’s core business is the provision of telephony and data services via the terrestrial network in The Netherlands, mobile telecommunications services in Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium, and data services in Western Europe. KPN was privatised in 1989, and its shares are listed on the Amsterdam, New York, London and Frankfurt exchanges.
