MapInfo Appoints Group Sales Director EMEA

MapInfo Corporation (UK) has announced the appointment of Steve Broughton as group sales director, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa); a specially created role reflecting the company's strategic response to rapid market growth in the enterprise arena.

Joining MapInfo from Business Objects (UK) Ltd where he was vice president and managing director, Broughton is charged with driving the value of Location Intelligence across the enterprise environment, underpinning MapInfo's corporate growth plans and its business development focus across key vertical sectors; specifically, public sector, retail, telecommunications and finance.

In parallel, the role is tasked with the strategic integration of the sales teams as a result of the company's recent acquisitions in the UK including asset management solution providers Southbank Systems Ltd, and GeoBusiness Solutions Ltd, a provider of location-based analytical and modelling services and software.

With a proven track record of significantly growing revenues at Business Objects, Broughton brings over 20 years of highly relevant experience to the new role. He has directly managed European sales and marketing drives for major software vendors from Business Objects to Synon and Informix where he delivered impressive revenue growths and implemented major change management initiatives across traditional and emerging pan-European markets.
