New Database Connectivity Capabilities with ENVI

ITT Visual Information Solutions (CO, USA) has announced the upcoming release of a new update for ENVI software – ENVI 4.3.1, which will provide an enterprise solution for accessing geospatial imagery. This release, scheduled for December, 2006, will enable ENVI as a client to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and JPEG 2000 Internet Protocol (JPIP) compliant image servers via the new ENVI Zoom interface. These new capabilities will provide a standards-based approach to image collection and delivery, allowing ENVI users to directly access imagery from a variety of sources, including internet servers compliant with the OGC Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Coverage Service (WCS) standards.

In addition to OGC standards compliant servers, ENVI 4.3.1 will also enable ENVI as a client to servers using Image Access Solutions (IAS), ITT Visual Information Solutions’ COTS software used for streaming geospatial imagery over networks with limited bandwidth.

ENVI 4.3.1 will be available at no cost to current ENVI 4.3 license holders from the ITT website.
