As 2007 has been announced as the International Polar Year, the problems of polar, offshore territories and glaciology research work using remote sensing data will be discussed at one of the first day sessions. Master-classes aimed at the selection and handling of proper remote sensing data and methods will be held at the same time with the workshop on special hydro-meteorological support.

Practical application of satellite-based monitoring of natural resources and environment will be discussed on the second day. In particular, remote sensing methods in forest fund inventory. The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) will hold its own session headed by Prof. Dr. Orhan Altan, Secretary General of ISPRS and Prof. Dr. John Trinder, First-Vice President of ISPRS.
